Men wearing gorilla costumes are an integral part of the filmmaking process since the silent era. In the sound period, two hardworking actors, Charles Gemora and Ray "Crash" Corrigan built very unique and incredibly realistic costumes. They were used in many movie serials and films to mention. They also employed the same costumes in their rodeo-related shows.
In 1967, Morris Costumes started advertising a highly realistic gorilla costume and bear suit in show-business magazines. Roger Patterson was one of the first costume customers. He used them for the famous Bigfoot video. Patterson later called Morris to ask him how he could conceal the zippers, expand the arms, and increase the shoulders. It was at this moment that Morris realized that he had made something very special.
